02/26/08 Update: Wow. What was expected to be a short movie that would circulate within a small circle of friends has turned into something much more very quickly. I'm thrilled that so many people have enjoyed this video but also somewhat mortified that I added this without my daughter's knowledge or consent. Maybe someday she will find some humor in it. Hopefully if she chooses to follow this path on her own someday she will find a door still open for her. Other things: She has never seen Pokemon so I don't think she's making a reference to the ball on that show. I think she just means pokey ball as in "a ball that is pokey." (And yes, I know what the pokey balls really are! Stop emailing :) ) Three year olds can't read. I'm sure there are exceptions to that rule. ------------------------------------- Here is my daughter, age 3, explaining the plot of Star Wars Episode IV. She explained the whole movie to me in much greater detail but unfortunately I didn't have the camera going. When I finally caught her talking about the movie again she delivered this truncated, but still funny, version. Edit: Thank you all for the nice comments. Maybe I will print them out for her and someday and when she's all growed up she'll get to read them herself. A little more about the video: She wasn't coached to say anything, nor was she forced to make the video. She rarely stops talking. Those of you with children understand this: sometimes it's harder to turn the faucet off than to turn the faucet on. Believe it or not, she has the seem the movie only once, and I spread it out over 3 days so it wouldn't be too much all at once for her. The video was edited to make it shorter, more cohesive and hopefully funnier. I did move some of the lines around so it would make more sense.

Our bodies use a gyro-like mechanism in our ears which has 3 mutually orthogonal inertial measurement devices. Modern motion processors use something called an Inertial Measurment Unit (IMU). These devices provide movement data which can be used to compensate for the movement. Mama Africa spoke out against the violence, inequality and disease that kept many people, especially women and children, living in conditions of extreme poverty. We will miss her energy and her respectful concern for the worlds most vulnerable, Diouf said. Makeba had been an FAO Goodwill Ambassador since 1999. Over the years, she had participated in a long list of events and concerts organized by FAO, including performances to raise funds for FAO TeleFood projects in South Africa, Jamaica and Spain. Makeba was active in FAOs communications campaigns against hunger, both in interviews with the international news media and through public service announcements. In April 2001, Makeba visited FAO post-emergency projects in Mozambique, increasing the visibility and impact of FAOs activities in Africa. On her last official mission on behalf of FAO, in March 2008, Makeba travelled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo to visit FAO emergency projects designed to help survivors of violence and HIV positive women and men feed their families and revive their livelihoods through farming. Over the years I have found Heath pleasant, interesting, and full of life. He has never liked the "interview process" but many movie stars do not. My last interview, however, was very different. It was for the movie I'm Not There. I must tell you that I have never seen him so unhinged and figity as he was for this interview. Many of the journalists who spoke to him also feel the same way...but we had not idea he would die within weeks. Here is the complete interview I had with him just weeks ago for his latest movie. I'm not posting this because it was a great interview, because it certainly wasn't one of my best. I am posting it so people out there can get a better understanding of Heath's state of mind just before he died. Rest in peace.
